Birdleap yawned, as she stepped out of the nursery. Petalkit was sleeping soundly comfortably in their warm nest, so Birdleap wouldn't have to worry about being called by her daughter, probably to tell a story, or feed her, or play with her, or many of the other demands. It was always demands with the young she-kit. Birdleap of course loved Petalkit, but sometimes she wondered why she decided to have kits so early into her warriorship, with her finding out she was expecting only half a moon after she became one. Maybe she and Marrowsong moved too fast with their relationship.
Slowing to a stop at the fresh-kill pile, Birdleap bended over to grab a piece of prey, only to be interrupted by one of her clanmate's voices. Birdleap looked towards her in confusion, tilting her head slightly.
Then the world shook.
Birdleap let a meow of surprise, as suddenly the camp erupted into chaos, as cats tried to evacuate. She ended up following behind them, swimming out through the camp entrance. Halfway through though, Birdleap remembered something. She remembered that Petalkit was still in the nursery, and that her little kit didn't know how to swim.
Panic overtook Birdleap, as she whipped around, to head back to camp, to her daughter. There were too many cats though, all attempting to evacuate, and get to safety, making traveling through impossible. Birdleap still tried though, calling out as she did so for Petalkit. "Petalkit!" Birdleap screamed. Suddenly she felt a shove, throwing her underwater. She attempted to grasp the thing that shoved her with her claws, pulling it down in an attempt to get up. It was in vain though, as all it did was bring herself down even further. Birdleap's mouth was gaped open, allowing water to sift through. She tried to close it, but the pressure from the water wouldn't allow her to.
To be contuined....
